The overriding concern of NASA referees is the safety and well being of all participants in the program.
NASA referees are trained in the Laws of the Game and coached on how to apply them officiating games. As referees gain experience and skill they are assigned higher level games and encouraged to obtain USSF certification. Referee performance feedback from coaches to the referee director is an important part of this coaching and is strongly encouraged.

Interested in becoming a referee?
NASA is always looking for new referees.  NASA uses referees for its intown U8 and U10 divisions.  Refs are paid $15 for U8 games and $20 for U10 games.  If you are interested in becoming a soccer referee, please visit the Massachusetts State Referee Web Site    

In order to ref intown games you will need a Grade 9 license.   NASA reimburses the registration fee for the grade 9 license. 

Grade 9- This will apply to all intown refs.  Entry Level- must be 12 before season starts. Grade 9 can ref "recreational" games, like our in town games, ECYSA U10's, etc. They can also be assistant refs on U12-U14 games although ECYSA does not presently use them for that.

Grade 8- Recommended for older refs and adults who wish to ref travel games in the ECYSA.  You must be 15 before season starts, or have the combination of age plus years as a Grade 9 equal 15 (e.g. two years of Grade 9 experience, could obtain Grade 8 at age 13). Grade 8 can do any youth game from intown through travel through U19.
